Mental Health Counseling

We believe the well-being of our students is vital to their success. Our district offers a wide range of comprehensive mental health services aimed at nurturing students’ unique needs.

Referral & Intervention Process

To initiate a mental health counseling referral, parents/ guardians or school staff may submit a referral online by clicking on the referral link below. 

Secondary students will be connected with a school-based mental health counselor. Elementary students will be referred to community mental health agencies, with referrals guided by Medi-Cal eligibility and student needs.

  • Parents/guardians are invited to meet with the psychological services provider at an intake meeting to provide informed consent and learn about the counseling process. 
  • Counseling goal(s) are developed in collaboration with the student, parent/guardian and school staff.

All students may also be referred to telehealth counseling services provided by Hazel Health. Referrals can be made for telehealth services by clicking on the Hazel Health referral link below. 

In-Person Counseling Referrals

Staff and families may refer students for in-person counseling services by completing a Counseling Referral Form.

GUSD partners with Hazel Health to provide telehealth counseling for students. Staff and families can learn more and refer students for telehealth counseling services through Hazel Health at the links below:

Substance Abuse Support Request

Staff and families may refer students for substance abuse support by completing a Substance Abuse Support Request Form
